This two-day event brings together software developers, agricultural experts, university students and local farmers to create practical technology solutions for Ugandan farming. It aims to bridge the gap between advanced technology and smallholder farmers to boost productivity, combat climate change, and improve post-harvest handling. DAY 1. THE HACKATHON (CODE & CONCEPT) Teams brainstorm and prototype solutions focused on themes like early pest detection using AI, smart irrigation systems using IOT (Internet of Things), or digital marketplaces for local produce. DAY 2. THE EXPO & PITCHING Participants showcase their prototypes to investors and farmers. The winning team receives funding to develop their solution further. WHY THIS IS INTERESTING High Relevance. Agriculture is the backbone of the Ugandan economy, yet it faces challenges with pests, unpredictable weather, and market access. Tech for Good. It empowers local developers to create locally relevant technology rather than relying on imported, costly solutions. Market need. There is a growing demand for digital tools that help smallholder farmers increase yields.
